What You Can Do?

Join a Haywood Democratic Affiliate Organization. Young Democrats. Democratic Women. Senior Democrats, LGBTQ+ Democrats are organizing in Haywood County. Contact haywooddemocrats@gmail.com to get involved.

Call Your Representatives. They may be Republican, but they must hear from you! Make sure they are hearing from Democrats! The app 5 Calls (available from your App Store) makes it easy to know your representatives and call them. It will give you background on several issues and even an optional script. If you can’t get through to your representatives at their DC offices, check this page for their local office numbers. Contact your State reps as well and tell them its past time for a budget. Our schools should not have to guess what they will receive from the state.

  • NC House district 118: Mark Pless, 919-733-5732
  • NC Senate district 47: Ralph Hise, 919-733-3460

Encourage others to get involved. The Haywood Senior Democrats have printed yard signs to encourage people to call their representatives. “Feeling Not Represented? 5Calls.org”. They are available at HQ for a requested donation of $10.

Show Up & Be Heard – Rallies, town halls, and community events are happening across our county and state. Join other progressives on Saturdays at noon South Main St.,  Waynesville–Across from Taco Bell. When Democrats show up, we show our strength! Click here for some signs you can print out at home.

Join Indivisible.org. “Fascists depend on you believing you are alone and powerless. But when individuals come together, we create real power.” They also have a local FB page (Indivisible Asheville/WNC) as well as a local webpage (www.indivisibleavl.org)

Hands Off Haywood is the local chapter of Indivisible. They are on the corner by Taco Bell on Main St South every Saturday at noon. The next big rally is planned for Saturday March 28. You can follow them on Facebook here.

Donate. Donations to Haywood Democrats enable us to meet our goal of electing Democrats and keeping the lights on in our Haywood Headquarters. Donations to NC Democrats will help to pay the legal bills incurred by the fight to defeat Jefferson Griffin and elect Justice Riggs. Donations to causes like the ACLU, Common Cause, and Planned Parenthood will help those organizations continue their good work fighting for the goals we all believe in.

Consider Running for Office. Filing for Haywood County School Board is in July and is non-partisan. The National Democratic Training Center offers an online course for Democrats who may be considering running for office.Click here for info.

Most Important – VOTE! Municipal elections wi be held in November. Stay informed.
